Preparing Baby Formula
  1. Use freshly boiled water for each meal. Let it cool down to 40 – 50 °C before adding the formula powder. This ensures that the powder dissolves easily and that the nutrients are not damaged.
  2. Fill the bottle (make sure that the bottle, ring and teat are clean and sterilised) with the amount of water required according to the dosage chart. Here’s a tip if you don’t have a thermometer to check the water temperature – if you can just about hold the bottle in your hand, the temperature is okay.
  3. Then measure out the required amount of powder according to the dosage chart (dip the measuring spoon deep into the powder and fill it loosely – wipe off any excess with the back of a knife) and add it to the cooled water in the bottle.
  4. Close the bottle tightly and shake vigorously until the powder is completely dissolved.
  5. Let the formula cool down to drinking temperature (please be sure to check) before feeding your baby. The optimal temperature is lukewarm or about 37 °C.
Important Information on Infant Nutrition
  • Breast milk is best for your baby – it contains high-quality proteins and all the important nutrients your baby needs for healthy development. That is why the WHO recommends exclusively breastfeeding babies in the first six months of life.
  • If you do not or only partially breastfeed your baby, please discuss this beforehand with the appropriate healthcare professionals (for example with a paediatrician, midwife or lactation consultant).
  • Follow the dosage and preparation recommendations carefully.
  • Prepare the infant formula fresh before each meal. Feed it to your baby right away. Do not store and reuse leftovers.
  • The bottle and teat must always be thoroughly cleaned and sterilised.
  • Store the opened pack in a dry place at room temperature. Always close the bag tightly. Once opened, use it up within 3 weeks.
  • Please do not heat infant formula in the microwave, there is a risk of overheating!
  • Just like breast milk, formula contains carbohydrates that your baby needs for healthy development. However, these carbohydrates can cause serious damage to the teeth (caries) if they are in prolonged contact with the milk. Therefore, only let your baby suck on the bottle until he or she has finished the meal and is full. The bottle is not suitable as a pacifier or for continuous sucking! Ensure good dental hygiene as soon as the first tooth is visbile!
